Childcare costs

How do you calculate childcare fees after CCS?

Start with the booked childcare fee, then apply the estimated CCS percentage to the lower of the service’s hourly fee or the government hourly cap. Only subsidised hours count. What remains is your family gap, plus the temporary effect of any CCS withholding.

Illustrative example

A $360 weekly fee can become a $58.68 gap

Booked fees$360/wk
Estimated CCS$301.32/wk
=
Family gap$58.68/wk

For one child attending three 10-hour days at $120 a day and family adjusted taxable income of $120,000, ParentMath estimates an 83.7% standard CCS rate. The example assumes 72 subsidised hours a fortnight and excludes withholding.

What goes into the calculation?

You need your estimated family adjusted taxable income, each child’s age, care type, days and hours in care, daily fee and subsidised hours. ParentMath applies the 2026–27 CCS settings to each child separately.

Why can the invoice differ?

Services Australia generally withholds 5% of CCS, then balances the entitlement later. Attendance records, absences, income updates and eligibility decisions can also change the amount paid to the service.

Childcare fee questions

How do I calculate my childcare fees after CCS?

Apply your CCS percentage to the lower of the hourly fee or hourly cap, within your subsidised hours, then subtract that subsidy from the booked fee.

Does my CCS percentage apply to the whole daily fee?

Not always. Amounts above the hourly cap and care beyond the available subsidised hours remain in the family gap.
